Can children fly on their own?

Most airlines will allow children to fly on their own (without a parent or guardian) as an unaccompanied minor between the ages of 5 and 12 years. Unaccompanied minors must buy a special ticket to fly and the airline must be advised at the time of booking and before flying. The airline will then organise to have your child escorted by a member of staff throughout their journey. Additional fees often apply and you may be required to fill in some additional paperwork. Every airline’s policy on unaccompanied minors is different. Contact your airline to find out more information before booking.

Checking-in

We strongly advise all passengers to check-in at least 45 minutes before their scheduled departure time. Arrive one hour prior to your flight when flying with children, have special needs or you have an international connection. You can also check-in with your airline online before arriving at Albury Airport.

It's a good idea to keep an eye on your flight times in case there's been a delay or a change in departure time by your airline.

Drop-off and parking

If you're being dropped off at the airport, use the drop off zone located in the general car park area at the front of the terminal building. There's a five-minute time limit.

If you have friends and family wanting to stay with you until your flight leaves, it's best to use the general car park.  The first 30 minutes is free, charges apply if you stay longer.
